Event Description

Register now to learn how to ensure your charity’s voice is heard!

As the national umbrella organization for Canadian charities, Imagine Canada believes that public policy decision-making is better when charities are at the table.

Join us on September 23rd to participate in a public policy workshop for local charity leaders and board members. Learn about the why and how of charities’ participation in public policy and what you need to know about:

  • Political activities reporting
  • Federal lobbyist registration
  • Engagement during the federal election

Imagine Canada thinks it’s important that your organization has a voice on issues of relevance to your cause and community. Their goal is to ensure that as many board members and charity leaders as possible are empowered to support the charities with which they work to engage with confidence in public policy in 2015.

Target Audience:
Executive Directors, Board Members, Nonprofit Leaders and/or anyone involved or interested in advocacy work
*If you are attending as paid staff please invite a board member to come along. Imagine Canada through the roadshow would like to increase the confidence and knowledge not only of paid staff, but also of volunteer board members.

The presentation will feature Dr. Michelle Gauthier, VP Public Policy and Community Engagement, and Bill Schaper, Director of Public Policy and Community Engagement.

Imagine Canada’s public policy work brings charities together to speak with strong united voices; they educate charities to help them get involved in the decision-making process; and develop original policy proposals and respond to those advanced by others. This public policy roadshow has been made possible through the support of the Max Bell Foundation and the Ivey Foundation, as well as our local co-hosts and sponsors. We also gratefully acknowledge the support of the Agora Foundation and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation for our public policy work.
