Willy Van Klooster Nonprofit Board Governance Scholarship awarded

The Willy Van Klooster Nonprofit Governance Scholarship was developed to honour Willy's exemplary leadership in board governance as the founding and long-serving chair of Pillar Nonprofit Network. It is awarded annually to build excellence in board governance for a small- to medium-sized member organization of Pillar Nonprofit Network.

In 2011, the Scholarship will go to Over 55.  It will give the Board Chair and Executive Director the opportunity to take part in Partnership Coaching. The estimated value of the scholarship is $5000. This program will be approximately 15 hours in total over 9 months.

The 2011 Scholarship is generously sponsored by Janet Frood, Horizon Leadership. Lissa Foster, Past Board Chair of Pillar Nonprofit Network, will provide mentoring to the board chair. Mentorship involves support from an experienced leader and learning and practising knowledge and skills. The areas of focus will be decided together by the mentor and board chair, based on the individual needs of the board chair.

To be eligible for the Scholarship the organization must be a member of Pillar Nonprofit Network and have an operating budget under $500,000.
