Cuso International is seeking an enthusiastic English trainer to support the professional development of government staff at the Sekong – Province Agriculture and Forestry Office (PAFO), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Through daily classes, you will be helping a group of approximately 30 staff to learn key English-language skills in speaking, reading, listening and writing. You will be able to use your creativity to engage students via a wide range of teaching techniques, including video/audio presentations, practical exercises and more. As a result of your work, the participating staff members will gain confidence in their ability to use English within the workplace, including interaction with external stakeholders, as well as in their personal lives.

Note that the start dates of this placement can be flexible, depending on the needs of the volunteer and the needs of the partner organization.

As a volunteer, you will:

-Develop assessment and monitoring tools to assess English-language proficiency

-Develop teaching modules to increase English skills of students

-Undertake continuous assessment of classroom techniques to ensure quality learning

-Conduct initial English level assessments for the participants’ English Language Proficiency, and adapt/create teaching topics, courses and resources accordingly.

-Develop and deliver basic and intermediate English Language Trainings for PAFO Staff to develop their speaking, reading, listening and writing skills

-Establish indicators to measure writing, reading and speaking skills, and conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities, including development of a final report

-Integrated Gender Equality, people with disability and HIV/AID in English conversation topics.

Essential Academic Qualifications:

-Post-secondary training in education or English-language teaching or related field.

Essential Professional Background:

-Experience in teaching English as a second language.

- Experience in developing lesson plans.

- Experience with mentoring, tutoring and supporting skills acquisition.
