Position Description

MANDATE

The mandate of the National Seniors’ Day Event Advisory Committee is to advise and assist the event project co-ordinator regarding planning, programming, exhibitor displays and organizing for the event, funded by New Horizons for Seniors Canada.

DUTIES

The Advisory Committee members will:

-         work with the project co-ordinator to identify speakers and entertainment for the event

-         consult with the project co-ordinator to write content for brochures

-         assist project co-ordinator with marketing/promotion by providing leads/referrals

-         provide the project co-ordinator with a short written evaluation of the event planning and organizing

-         provide advice/recommendations for seniors’ programs/events for the future

 

COMPOSITION

Any person over the age of 50 who has a general interest in seniors events and seniors issues may apply. Members shall be chosen for their special expertise, experience, dedication and commitment to the mandate of the Committee. The National Seniors Day Event Advisory Committee shall be comprise of the following:

1 representative from a seniors’ retirement home staff

1 representative from a seniors service-provider

1 representative working in seniors’ health sector

1 member from the Social Participation Age Friendly London Working Group

4 members at large

The project co-ordinator will be a member of the committee.

PROPOSED MEETING SCHEDULE

1 - 2 hour meeting in May

1 - 2 hour meeting in June

1 - 2 hour meeting in September

1 - 2 hour meeting in October

1 – 2 hour meeting in November

Total – 10 hours

 

REMUNERATION

Bus passes or parking expenses will be paid.
