Position Description
Duties & Responsbilities:
o
Pick up the client either at their home or at the shelter, in the agency vehicle, to an appointment/activity; and pick up the client at an appointed time and place.
o
In the case of inclement weather, the driver will make the decision as to whether the drive will take place. If it will be cancelled, the driver should notify the Volunteer Coordinator or staff contact as soon as possible.
Skills/Qualifications:
o
Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and a safe driving record
o
Possess own cell phone
o
Display maturity with the choice of conversations, calmness in various driving situations, and a non-judgmental attitude
o
Be comfortable working with women from different cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations
o
Maintain confidentiality as set out in the confidentiality oath
o
Reliable and punctual
o
Knowledge of the community where travelling will take place
Boundaries:
o
Do not make unauthorized stops or side trips
o
Do not transport additional passengers other than those cleared by WRRC
o
Do not provide personal phone number or other personal contact information to the client
o
Be sensitive to the personal boundaries of the passengers, refraining from asking questions of a personal nature
o
Maintain confidentiality as per the signed Oath of Confidentiality
Time & Hours
o
Volunteer drivers mainly needed between 9am to 5pm
o
We are flexible with how often you would like to volunteer
