Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre enhances food security, provides advocacy and referrals, facilitates meaningful community engagement, and offers a safe space for residents of all ages to socialize and develop new skills. A desire and the ability to work with children, youth and adults facing complex life circumstances (primarily related to low income) is a requirement of this position.

Review the participants' accommodation plans to familiarize themselves with the participants' social history, interests, abilities, needs, etc.

Assists participants with program activities as outlined in their accommodation plans.

Provides suggestions to program staff regarding program/equipment adaptations that will allow participants to participate successfully.

Ensures participant's successful involvement in recreational activities based on the individual's abilities.

Monitors the safety and well-being of participants and reports or documents any challenges or concerns.

Recognizes the participant’s strengths and limitations and provides program modifications based on their abilities while considering the need for safety.

Assists participants with personal hygiene (e.g., toileting, changing, washing hands).

Assists participants in and out of wheelchairs, on and off toilets, etc., using appropriate lifting techniques and procedures.

Responds to behavioural issues and proactively plans to prevent issues from escalating.

Responds to escalated issues, ensuring safety of all

Responds to basic participant and family inquiries when possible/applicable; refers advanced issues to the coordinator, supervisor, or manager.

Observes and immediately reports changes in participants’ physical and emotional conditions to the coordinator, supervisor, or manager.

Ensures areas are accessible and barrier-free for participants.

Completes incident reports as required.

Provides first aid and CPR as required.

Performs duties in accordance with confidentiality standards.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Currently enrolled or a graduate of either Developmental Service Worker (DSW) or Child and Youth Care (CYC).

Related and relevant experience, including on-the-job period of adjustment
-
Excellent time management, coordination, conflict management and negotiating skills, administrative abilities, community development skills, and communication skills.

Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate

Ability to provide a satisfactory Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector)
